Okinawa Prefecture is a prefecture consisting of 363 islands in the East China Sea and the Pacific, located at the westernmost tip of Japan. Ryukyu kingdom existed and prospered as a kingdom unlike Japan, but in modern times, with the Japanese government controlling it, its own history as an independence kingdom was lost once. However, the original culture remains unchanged now and it is the region where tourists come to visit continually for splendid scenes of islands and a warm climate throughout the year.
The prefectural office is Naha City of Okinawa Island.
