Because its access is the easiest in the Shirakami Mountains,
it will be good even to visit here only if a tourist use the public transport.
In the forest surrounded by beeches there are lakes ,marshes and among them Lake Aoike
and Lake Wakitusboike are the representative ones.
There are some bus services from JR Gono Line station and Furofuji Onsen hot spring.
Hiking trail
One attractive hiking trail is hiking around the Lake Aoike and Lake Wakitsuboike,
which starts from and to Lake Oku-juniko with bus terminal and parking lots around it.
It is recommended for the experience of Shiragami Mountains.
Access and Getting Around
Take a train from Tokyo to Akita City by the Akita Shinkansen.
Take a Gonosen-resort Shiragami train at Akita City or transfer a train of the Gono Line at Higashinoshiro to Juniko Station.
Take a bus at Juniko Station.

2 hours from Akita Station to Juniko Station via the JRGonosen-resort Shiragami with 3 trains a day.
2 hours 45 minutes from Akita Station to Higashinoshiro Station via the JR Ou Line,
then transfer to the JR Gono Line to Jun-iko Station with 4 trains a day.
3 hours from Hirosaki Station to Higashinoshiro Station via the JR Ou Line ,
then to Juni-ko Station via the JR Gono Line with 4 trains per day.
By bus
15 minutes from JR Juniko Station to Okujuni-ko Bus Terminal with 9 bus services per day.
By car
2 hours 30 minutes from Akita Station, 2 hours 30 minutes from Hirosaki Station.
