It is an ancient shrine built in the 6th century to worship Ninigi-no- Mikoto who was said to found Japan in the myths,
the current building was constructed in 1715.
The splendid building is a grand shrine with another name called “West Nikko“,
which is painted in red and decorated luxuriously inside and outside.
It is at the foot of the southernmost of the Kirishima Mountains.
Access and Getting Around
By bus
10 minutes from Kirishima Jingu Station.
Shuttle buses also stop here.
