It is a group of volcanos extending to Miyazaki Prefecture and Kagoshima Prefecture in the south of Kyushu. Having a trek to see the magnificent volcanic topography, mountain climbing, splendid hot springs make it a big resort in the south of Kyushu.
Access and Getting Around
Because it is a mountainous area, it is necessary to fully take time and make a tourist schedule.
A tour bus is available to go round the highlands.
Shuttle buses run between JR Kirishima-jingu Station and Maruo (Kirishima Onsen).
By train
Take a limited express train at Kagoshima Chuo Station for 35 minutes, transfer to the JR Nippo Line at Hayato Station, get off at Kokubu or Kirishima Station then transfer to a bus.
Take a limited express train at Miyazaki Station of the JR Nippo Line for 1 hour 30 minutes, get off at Kirishima-jingu Station.
By bus
Take a limited express bus, Rindo-go from Miyazaki Station for 1 hour 40 minutes.
Take a bus at Kagoshima Airport bound for Kirishima Onsen or JR Kokub Station for 40 minutes, transfer to a bus.
By car
35 minutes from Kagoshima Chuo Station, 1 hour 40 minutes from Miyazaki Station.
