NIkko Toshogu is a Shrine used to worship the first general Tokugawa Ieyasu of the Edo period
who has been defied.
It is considered as the headquarters of all Toshogu Shrines of Japan.
55 buildings including eight national treasures and 34 important cultural properties are lined,
and full lacquer colors are painted and sculptures are decorated on pillars by the craftsmen from all over the country.
Because everything here including splendid main shrine, five-storied pagoda, gates, lights and sculptures has historic values,
it is registered as a World Heritage.
Access and Getting Around
2.5 km from JR Nikko Station. Bus services are convenient.
