It is the highest crate lake in Japan, located in the southeast of Mt. Karakunidake.
The diameter of the surface of the lake is approximately 650 metersand it is round-shaped.
The lake is surrounded by the forest, and the transparent bottom of the lake can be seen because of its high acidity.
It is really a quiet atmosphere.
The view from the mountaintop pleases the eyes of the mountaineer with the grandeur.
Access and Getting Around
It is a 50-minute walk in the southwest of Mt. Karakunidake.
If you want to walk round the lake only, you may start from the mountain entrance
which is 3.8 kmaway from the Eco Museum Center on No.1 Local highway.
The climbing trail takes 40 minutes and walking around the lake takes about 90 minutes.
