Kagoshima is a beautiful city and prefectural seat of Kagoshima Prefecture located in the southernmost part of Kyushu, where tourists can see Sakurajima Island pouring out fumes on the opposite bank. In addition, Kagoshima is a town of the political powers who defeated the Samurai Administration of the Edo Era and a cultural city where many historic inheritances still remain. Kagoshima uses these two keywords for attracting tourists.

Access and Getting Around

Kagoshima is the terminal of the Kyushu Shikansen.

Kagoshima City-view Bus: A tour bus (1200yen for a two-day pass) makes a circuit of the city’s main sights. An overnight sightseeing to Sakurajima whose fee includes a discount ticket of a ferry and a car is recommended. A tour bus take tourists to the main sights in the city. The tour information center is at Kagoshimachuo Station.

By train

1 hour 17 minutes from Hakata Station in Fukuoka by the Kyushu Shinkansen; 43 minutes from Kumamoto Station by the Kyushu Shinkansen;

2 hours from Miyazaki Station by limited express train by the Nippo Line.

By car

3 hours 10 minutes from Hakata Station in Fukuoka;

2 hours 6 minutes from Kumamoto Station.

By plane

45 minutes from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Kagoshima Airport, via JAL, ANA, Skymark with several flights per day. Flights from Nagoya, Osaka and so on in Japan.
