Deep gorge on a truck train:
The Kurobe Gorge is a very large V shaped gorge at the lower part of the biggest dam in Japan, Kurobe Dam. The red leaves in the mountainous area with big difference of temperature are particularly popular. Unazuki Onsen is at the entrance of the gorge where there are various spa hotels. A truck train running along the gorge from here is the local specialty. Yet, it is impossible to get to the Kurobe dam from her.
Access and Getting Around
Kurobe-unazuki Onsen Station of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line is the basic spot. Transfer to the Toyamachiho Line, then take a truck train from here. In case of driving a car, change the route at Kurobe Exit of Hokuriku Expressway. Vehicles are prohibited to enter Kurobe Gorge, so park the vehicle at Unazuki Onsen.
By train
2 hours 30 minutes from Tokyo to Kurobe-unazuki Onsen Station by the Hokuriku Shinkansen with 1 train per hour, then to Unazuki Onsen by the Toyamachiho Line for 25 minutes with 1 train per 30 minutes and transfer to a truck train.
By car
4 hours 45 minutes from Tokyo Station, 1 hour 30 minutes from Kanazawa Station to Unaduki Onsen.

Kanetsuri Onsen is a hot spring located in the neighborhood of Kanetsuri Station along the truck train railway,where there two spa inns, and using an outdoor hot spring in a riverbank is fun.But, during the season, it is a bit crowded with people during the daytime,so tourists are recommended to stay at the hotel for night and go to the outdoor-hot spring early in the morning....
