Matsushima is one of Nihon Sankei and there are 260 different sizes of islands in Matsushima Bay, located to the east of Sendai City prefectural seat of the Miyagi Prefecture. Cruise vessels going around the islands, Zen temples, Buddhism facilities and inns lined along the shore attract tourists. It was damaged by the tsunami too, but accomplished revival early because there was little damage.
Access and Getting Around
Because of the Tohoku Shinkansen between Sendai and Tokyo, it is convenient, and it is accessible to Matsushima from Sendai by train of the JR Senseki Line. It is accessible from Shiogama Port by cruise. Combining vessel and train tour is pleasant too.
