It is an island of approximately 20 kilometers around located in the eastern part of the Seto Inland Sea between Okayama Prefecture in Chugoku region and Kagawa Prefecture in Shikoku. It is an island of rich nature which is famous for the production center of stone material and other highlights such as citrus cultivation, streams, 3000 ponds and beautiful terraced paddy fields. Teshima Art Museum is on the island which attracts a large number of tourists to visit, and going around the island and enjoying beautiful nature from here is really pleasant.
Access and Getting Around
Okayama City in Okayama Prefecture and Takamatsu City in Shikoku are the basic spots. A bus goes around sightseeing spots on the island every one hour, and an electric rental bicycle is available for going around the outskirts.
45 minutes from Okayama Station for Uno Station with 1 train per hour, then walk to Uno Port for 5 minutes. It takes 5 minutes to walk from Takamatsu Station to Takamatsu Port.
25~40 minutes from Uno Port to Teshima Island with eight vessel services per day; 20~35 minutes from Takamatsu Port to Teshima Island with4 vessel services per day.20 minutes from Naoshima Island. In addition: 20 minutes from Inushima Island with two vessel services per day; 15~30 minutes from Shodoshima Island with 7 vessel services per day.
