Koizumi Yakumo was a journalist called Lafcadio Hearn from Greece who came to Japan

in the Meiji period and taught English in Matsue,

collected Japanese old tales and introduced Japanese cultures abroad in his many books.

Koizumi Yakumo is his Japanese name.

The memorial museum is at the west end of Shiominawate Street,

and  Koizumi yakumo`s manuscripts and mementoes are displayed.

Just next to it is his old residence.
