The beautiful mountain may be called the symbol of Yamagata Prefecture.

It takes about 3 hours to climb up to the mountaintop via Mount Haguro with a bus terminal

and parking lot on 8- gome.

Gassan Shrine is on the mountaintop, and many people come to worship.

Access and Getting Around

By bus

1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours from Tsuruoka Station to Hagurosan Mountaintop,

transfer a bus to the Ga-ssan 8 –gome with 4 bus services per day.

The bus services for the Ga-ssan8 -gome are closed this year.

By car

1 hour 30 minutes from Tsuruoka Station to the Gassan 8- gome. 1 hour 40 minutes from Shonai Airport.

＊The road is closed to the traffic except the period of July 1 to October because of the snowfall.
