The remote islands which floats in the Sea of Japan:

It is a group of four islands, located 50 km to the north of Shimane Prefecture in the Sea of Japan. Among four islands, some are separated from the Japanese Islands while some are connected with the Japanese Islands for hundreds of thousands of years, which makes the unique ecosystem and scenes related its geographical condition. The four islands are Dogo Island, and another three islands comprise Dozen and each island has its unique feature with cliffs connected with one another. All these are worth seeing even by ship and plane in transit on the way. Yet, the sea is stormy in winter, not suitable for sightseeing.

Access and Getting Around

In case of using vessels to get there, take a vessel at Shichirui Port or Sakaiminato Port on the shore of the Sea of Japan from Matsue via each port of the islands respectively; in case of using a plane, Oki Airport is available. According to the arrival and departure time of ship from the two ports of the mainland, bus services are available from Matsue Station and Yonago Station. It is possible to get to the Sakaiminato Port from Yonago by JR train. There is no direct flight from Tokyo. It is possible to get there, from Izumo Airport and from Itami Airport in Osaka.

By ferry

2 hours 30 minutes from Shichirui Port to Saigo Port(Dogo) with a round-trip service per day⇔each different port.
2 hours 40 minutes from Sakaiminato Port to Beppu Port(Dozen) with one -way service per day⇒ Saigo Port.

By high-speed boat

1 hour 10 minutes from Shichirui Port to Saigo Port(Dogo)with one-way service per day⇒each different port .
1 hour 25 minutes from Sakaiminato Port to Saigo Port with one-way service per day, then to Beppu Port, but there is no service in winter.

By plane

30 minutes from Izumo Airport with 1 flight per day; 1 hour from Osaka Itami with 1 flight per day.
