Nebuta Festival
ねぶた祭り

  • Festivals

It is a parade that people walk through the central street while they ring bells and drums

and push a huge festival car with large lanterns which are printed ukiyoe on their surface.

The characteristic of Aomori Nebuta Festival is that the attendees called Haneto jump

and dance following the festival car.

A visitor cannot pass it over.

Everyone is allowed to take part in the Haneto, and costumes for the festival can be rented everywhere

in the downtown during the festival.

It is held on August 2-7, during which three million tourists visit here,

so  reservation in advance for hotels is necessary.
