The church was built by the believers who contributed money and labor, all the bricks, pillars and tiles on the floor
are made of Arita yaki and look so attractive.
People may feel the strength of human being’s belief through the history of this church building
that was constructed by the inhabitants one by one.
Kuroshima Island is the outstretched island of the Kujukyushima Islands,
so tourists come here not only to see the church but also the ancient life style of Japan and the nature,
and the inhabitants’ simple belief.
Access and Getting Around
Bware of the time of bus arrival and the ferry departure as Sasebo Port Ainoura Ferry Pier is far from the station.
It takes 40 minutes from Sasebo Station to Ainoura Ferry Pier by bus with 5 round-trip buses per day.
By ferry
50 minutes from Sasebo Ainoura Pier to Kuroshima Island with 3 round-trip ferries per day.
A 30-minute walk from Kuroshima Port to Kuroshima Catholic Church.
